Rosario Cartagena

Chief Privacy and Legal Officer, ICES

Rosario is the Chief Privacy and Legal Officer at ICES. In her role, Rosario provides strategic advice to the organization and her portfolios include: privacy, legal, risk, audit, compliance and cybersecurity. Her strategic work is primarily focused on the intersection between data law, data governance and AI. Previously, Rosario was an associate at Fasken LLP where she provided advice to start-ups, not-for-profits and large corporations on a variety of corporate, health and privacy law matters. She has also worked in the privacy and legal groups at Cancer Care Ontario. Rosario has an LLM from Osgoode Law School (Business Law) and a law degree (cum laude) from the University of Ottawa. Prior to attending law school, Rosario completed a Master in Science, Public Health Sciences (population health) from the University of Alberta and was a post-grad intern at the Harvard School of Public Health. Rosario is an adjunct lecturer, IHPME, University of Toronto. She is also the Deputy Editor-in-Chief, of Health Law in Canada and a director on the board of Hospice Palliative Care Ontario.
