National Executive Director of Innovation, Kaiser Permanente
Nick has been at the forefront of bringing innovation and design to healthcare providers, policy makers, and industry leaders as a way to solve our most intractable problems. Nick is the Executive Director of Innovation for Kaiser Permanente, the largest non-profit healthcare provider in the United States. He led the Innovation Hub at Johns Hopkins Medicine – one of the first design-based innovation studios in a hospital setting. There, Nick built and led a design team focused on reimagining patient care and community health. He also worked with President Obama’s White House to bring patient co-design to health policy and national innovation efforts including the 2015 ebola response, President Obama’s precision medicine initiative, and the response to our opioid crisis. Nick served as the Program Chair of Stanford’s Medicine X program in the Stanford School Of Medicine for nine years. Medicine X sits at the intersection of patient-powered innovation, academic medicine, and Silicon Valley tech.
